On Sunday, March 21, 2010, the Comprehensive Alcoholism Rehabilitation Programs, Inc. will honor long-time supporter and valued Advisory Board Member,  the late Cathleen McFarlane Ross.  Sadly, she was to have served as Chairwoman for the Spring Luncheon.

Cathleen's good friend Dick Robinson has agreed to act as Master of Ceremonies for this year’s event which features celebrity guest speaker Rory Kennedy, youngest child of Robert F. and Ethel Kennedy.  Proceeds from this event benefit the many adolescent and family programs CARP, Inc. offers through its Continuum of Care including medical detoxification services, intensive residential treatment services, the Adolescent Residential Treatment Program, outpatient services, aftercare services and Parent and Family Support Groups.

Garden Club Of Stuart


On Saturday and Sunday, March 27th and 28th, the 2010 Secret Gardens Tour and Garden Expo Event happens in Palm City and Stuart.  It benefits the Elementary School Gardens and the Boys & Girls Club.  Tickets are $25 for this self-guided tour through 7 private gardens in Palm City and Stuart.  More details at www.gardenclubofstuart.org.

Crossfit Games


The 2010 Crossfit Games happen on Saturday, March 13th and Sunday, March 14th from 7:30am to 5:30pm at Vita Nova of Renaissance Village (7231 Haverhill Bus Parkway, Suite 205 in West Palm Beach).

Pajama Jam


The official Pajama Jam is scheduled for Friday March 26th, 2010 at Wahoo's on the Waterfront. The theme will be Slumber Party, and local residents are invited to wear their (PG-rated) pajamas out on the town for a night of fun, live music and celebration! A live band (to be selected) will perform at the event. The cover charge will be a $10 donation (to be used to purchase items for donation) or a donated item, and Wahoo's has generously offered to donate a free drink to participants who contribute. Contributing corporate sponsors, advertisers and area leaders will be present for the distribution of donated items to local agencies and organizations serving our community's children as well as recognition for all of the hard work they do every day.

The Junior League of Martin County recognizes small comforts have great meaning for these kids, and we are challenging our community to come to their aid, and have some fun, through the Pajama Jam.

Spring Swing

Fishin' & Firehouse Chili Grand Slam


The Boynton Beach Firefighter Benevolent Association is hosting its 5th Annual Fishin’ & Firehouse Chili Grand Slam to be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Boat Club Park in Boynton Beach (South of Gateway Blvd on the east side of Federal Highway).

Proceeds from this tournament will benefit NFL Alumni “Caring for Kids” and the Boynton Beach Firefighter Benevolent Association. The NFL Alumni “Caring for Kids” is a charitable organization composed primarily of former professional football players guided in their volunteer efforts through fundraising, community service and social events each year for more than 175 different children’s charities.

5K Charity Walk


The 2010 Florida Brain Cancer Walk will mark the inaugural event hosted by Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure in the state of Florida.  A 5k Walk/Run/Family Fun Run is scheduled for Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the John Prince Park in Palm Beach County. This Walk/Run/Family Fun Run is open to participants of all fitness levels.  Registration on the morning of the event will open at 6:30 a.m., with the 5K Walk/Run beginning at 8:00 a.m. There will also be a Kids Fun Run beginning at 9:00 a.m. and an Awards Ceremony wrapping up the festivities at 10:00 a.m.

VTRC


Phelps Media Group, Inc. is currently representing the Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center (VTRC). VTRC will be hosting its third annual Harvest Fest fundraising event at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center on October 3, 2009.

The Harvest Fest fundraiser is a ride-a-thon and family festival held each year to raise money for VTRC's scholarship program. The scholarship program allows the Center to provide discounted services to over 350 clients with disabilities each year. The VTRC is a nonprofit organization based in Loxahatchee, FL, that provides recreational and therapeutic riding instruction to people of all ages with varying developmental, physical, and psychological disabilities.
